ryan david ewell started envelope as part of a passion to promote building resiliency around the northeastern United States and beyond
he received his bachelor of architecture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York with a focus on regenerative and ecological design
after a few years of engineers coordination and code drawings review for an international firm in midtown Manhattan BBG-BBGM (now HOK) he designed and managed construction of a wide variety of successful projects at GBA in Vermont
ryan then went on to build influential relationships with some of the world's most reputable cladding manufacturers and as founder and director of envelope llc ryan thrives on sharing specialty building knowledge and performance envelope solutions with other industry professionals
with a focus on 50-100 year buildings, envelope has helped coordinate design and supply of facade solutions for dozens of colleges and universities; local, state and federal government; transit systems; multifamily housing; hotels; labs; a wide variety of k-12 schools, and several hospitals
the common thread though it all is that "building resiliency is our business"
ryan is also currently chair of the building enclosure council at the boston society for architecture, volunteers at design colleges and universities, and serves on the local zoning board and planning commission as efforts to give back to the community
